This Heart of Mine
This Heart of Mine
In the middle of the night,
When you wake up
'cause your heart can take no more;
But you stifle down your moans,
'Cause certainly your mother could not know,
When you wish this all would end,
But have no way to do so;
You hold your heart against your chest,
Demanding it to be calm,
Then pleading to slow the hell down,
it won't....
You have let it down again
Willingly let it wander into gardens of hope,
Gardens with locks so strong,
That even the might time couldn't break.
And now, the constant rubs against the rusted lock
have left your heart wounded, bleeding and hurt.
It is in agony and terrible pain,
Fighting to break against the cage
That God as a safeguard gave
To hopeless, erroneous humans like you.
Fighting to break free from you,
Before your reckless soul is the death of its own.
You tell it, it has been here before
And turned up stronger,
It tells you, you have been here before too,
But none the wiser.
Remember when your mother said
"You are unworldly"
She didn't mean it as a compliment,
But perhaps professed the truth.
You see this world isn't fond of you, you wild thing.
You dreaming, aspiring, breathing piece of wildling.
You thought you'd have someone stand by you,
Dreaming, aspiring and breathing too.
See they like you, even love you,
Don't ever doubt that,
But to stand by you, that's not easy,
You don't make it easy.
You want to be free in this world of chains and broken keys!!!
So what do you do now?
Where do you go?
With your heart in excruciating pain,
Punishing you for your reckless hope.
I guess to work you go
Or to the movies
Or maybe pick up that book you left on the table so long
While building futures on the phone.
But now that future isn't there anymore,
So I suggest you pick up that book and hope,
That you don't find yourself back here again,
Convincing me to keep you sane.
