The Lockdown Blues
The Lockdown Blues
I am in my bed 24/7
Sleeping in well past eleven
My biggest dream of breakfast in bed
Is now getting out of bed
Who would have known
The thing that brings us together is a thing with a crown
I always wonder what life will be after
Hopefully no regrets with the would I rather
Life is changing dramatically
Things are being done automatically
Don’t touch this or that
Clean and sanitise your new ball or bat
Wear your mask everytime you go out
Out of fashion goes the pout
We all wish the good old times would return
But COVID-19 is like why not begin afresh instead of a return?
Lockdown brings families together
Compared to the earlier days where kids were always stuck playing Never have I ever
It has taught us to dream
While searching for a deadly pathogen under a UV beam
It came at a time when people thought more the people the merrier
N
ow all the people just trying to escape crowding using a suitable carrier
And in the masters chambers they have gathered for their feast
They use their formulas but they just can’t kill the beast
It taught us how to live virtual
Yet connect with all things natural
Just one phone call away
But still friends and work feels so far away
Figuring out how to make next month’s rent
With no way for frustration to vent
Sitting in a 4/4 room
Continously trying to stay happy battling fear and gloom
Watching so many shows online
And hanging clothes on the washing line
Have become new hobbies
This makes us appreciate life
Food on the table
Living life like a fable
Hoping for that one day
Where it is all Roses, sunshine and gay
Till then wash your hands
Sanitise your masks and bands
Keep Smiling and no wailing
Live life and love the feeling
