The Fireplace

The Fireplace

The fireplace showered warmth tonight,

And secrets of every heart was told,

We laughed, we sang and danced all night,

As if tomorrow the sun will never rise.

The fireflies resembled the city lights,

But our village always had a different glow,

The songs of the night filled up our hearts,

As the shooting stars slowly fell apart.

With siblings, the parents and grandparents,

And aunts and uncles we played antakshari,

The laughter, the songs that we sang all night,

Made us taste the elixir of life.

All it takes is a moment full of Love,

To make golden memories we hold forever,

For at the end of it all when death arrives,

I'll close my eyes and leisurely dive,

Into this fireplace, I hold in my heart,

My loved ones around me all laughing so hard,

The teacups all clattering as we dance too fast,

And this night will one day fade into the past.
