The Enchanted Forest

The Enchanted Forest

2 mins
447

Not very far away from the sweet fragrant mango orchards,

Near the still banks of the slow-meandering river,

The trees, leaves and the flowers look so withered and lonely;

And the wandering man seems to have lost his way up there.

They say these are the enchanted forests,

And people get lost in it, never to return.

The man kept cursing his luck,

And his fellow passengers too in turn.

The birds keep on chirping and singing here all day long;

The still waters of the river sometimes make merry,

When their riffles make rippling noises against the tiled banks,

Unmindful, the man looks far down to catch the next ferry.

The faint noise of a frightened animal sounds in his ear,

He has never seen such a beautiful deer.

Flitting around in search of sweet fragrance,

Full of anxiety and fear.

Somewhere far away when the sun goes down,

The dusk gains prominence on the horizon.

The reflections on the river are still;

And the clouds hover low on the distant hill.

Seems the ferry will not arrive today,

And he must remain here till morn.

Under the flowers and the nebulous moonlight,

He must spend this forlorn night.

The gentle rustling of the scattered leaves,

Swaying away by the cool breeze.

And a lively cricket crackling away,

Add to the sleepy lullaby.

The full moon behind the mango trees,

Moving in the sky from here to there.

Adds to the mystique and glory,

Of this enchanted sight so rare.

Seems the man has finally found out,

What this enchanted forest does to people.

He no longer awaits the next ferry,

But will stay here awhile for sure.
