Black marvel, with thunderous trumpet, you do not wish to mangle.

Your gait is slow but majestic, as you walk you dingle-dangle.

Grand ones, which among beasts have the most lasting memory.

Has flapping ears and matchless long trunk and belly like a granary.

Gleaming beacon and fortification to high aiming hunters.

O elephant you are the most lovey one of all monsters.

In ancient times you used to be part of King’s and Emperor’s military.

Massive force to beat the enemy that was called Elephantry.

Under your feet have been trampled many gruesome criminals.

Your role in public executions though maybe was against your principles.

Yet draconian tornado you can turn into if you have been angered.

Then from woods to villages all are trampled and all are scattered.

                                  Pleasant is your presence, a

mammoth who can be tamed.

A friendly beast unoffended by us profoundly you have been named.      .

You are the cheer of children when you come to the town.

To lift them up on your back, you love to bend down.

To carry the load or to uproot trees you fondly aspire.

The perfect comrade of hard workers, you never perspire.

Befitting competitor of our National Animal, the royal Tiger.

Tiger is agile and fierce, but you carry the burden and are sober.

Poachers deceit you for your elegant tusks, to make ivory-jewel.

But you still show restraint and are kind and do not rebel.

Gentle giants, but their numbers are decreasing by the day.

I pray that they are not reduced to just a memory to fade away.
