Spooky Job Of Spies

        Audacious Commandos, brave combatants of Army, Navy and Air Force.

                       We pay tribute to, but forget another martial race that exists of course.

              That play their silent role in giving intelligence facts, but we remain thankless.

                    Or hardly get to know their secret inputs, men and women equally fearless.

 

                  Termed Secret Service Agents, sometimes Double Agents, the genre of spies.

                     Existing as fictitious characters, finding, extracting truth from prevailing lies.

              Secret military information is vital for the military to positively proceed.

              Besides Courage, Skill, Technology, these hidden heroes are needed for their yield.

 

                       Soft skills of espionage, very tough mind and ability to remain disguised.

                          Is needed besides courage and desire to let their lives be sacrificed.

                          In mortal as well as in emotional terms, as they break their family ties.

                         And vanish in thin air, for their nation, remain incognito as the time flies.

 

                        No contact whatsoever with their near and dear ones, in a foreign land.

                   They mentally stand, besides threat of being caught, with foe close at hand.

                            They impersonate a fictitious character and live behind enemy lines.

                      They execute the mission with clinical precision, of retreat show no signs.

 

            They have to be relentless and ruthless for their mission to be accomplished.

                          At any stake if the need be, even civilians must be vanquished.      

           They have to be cordial with the enemy who they know may have an upper hand.    

                  And at the right time, to emerge victorious, in their eyes throw the sand.

 

                        If caught they face nerve-racking torture for they are the spies.

   The opposite of Human Rights or Geneva Convention in their case applies.

                      Collateral damage it is called, their nation cannot claim them back.

             They remain captives for ages or are murdered probably on the proverbial rack.
