The Clown

I jumped from trapeze to trapeze

And there was no net beneath

During my rehearsal.

I took two filled bottles in my left hand

And kept my right hand free for juggling,

I learned to tame the wild, I learned to talk with birds,

I learned to stand straight in front of arrow-shots.

I made my body fit, my face glow

For the performance day,

And then you came smiling Ring master.

Now

I am a joker in your famous circus..

Therefore I laugh;

Therefore I laugh and do not smile...
