The Butterfly Effect

Things have taken a turn as of late,

Some of those things used to be easy to anticipate,

I could tell who had been in the right,

There was a period when such details hadn't left my sight.

Who everyone was and the schedule we'd lived by,

Yet there is one fact which I can't deny,

Everything changes no matter where you're from,

But doubts have taken root due to what my home's become.

What had once felt like a well-oiled machine,

These days I can no longer deem,

No longer do I see us working as a whole,

While hard to accept it seems decisions from above took their toll.

I've watched all of this progress from the side,

I've witnessed others who'd always confide

Suddenly view that idea in an ill light,

I've listened to those once reasonable-who now always start a fight. 

Often times I've longed to speak out,

But such changes I've yet to bring about,

honestly, I wish you could stop and see this path we've paved,

What I've witnessed lately can only be seen as sad and depraved. 

This is why I continue to do what I've done for years,

I know it's not much from what it appears,

Wheather greetings others from 8 to near 9,

Or bidding those long gone well on any occasion I find

I want to believe those things can help to rebuild,

Until that which has gone missing can be refilled,

I believe that one deed no matter the size can spark a reaction

And if continued that spark can thus be a blaze of action.
