As I wake up and peep out of my cage,

I see the war has come to an end.

They've finally run out of rage,

And found ways to mend.

Debris from buildings and broken toys

Lay around, just as a remainder.

My head sorta misses the violent noises

Only now can people actually begin to ponder.

The destruction is immense,

The mental aftermath even worse.

The new spring air still feels tense,

It's like we've been freed from an endless curse.

As the first Ray of light ,

Hits the doomed town,

Something still doesn't seem just right,

Clearly everyone's got a frown.

Acres of dry land shimmers in shades of Brown.

The pastel and dull shades adorn the walls.

Colors seem to have lost a meaning

For they see no future at all

As lost as people could be,

Aimless faces wander around,

Not one soul seems free,

Seemed like everyone just wanted to be found.

As the sun grew brighter,

More people rose.

From a war that lasted decades,

With hopes to pick up the pieces

And start life just where they,

let it go.
