Sunny Days and Starry Nights

I remember the time long ago,

When as a child,

My Grandmother told me stories,

For me as a child.

         Of times when men, 

         Were not born to Mother Earth,

         When all was well on Mother Earth.

When Sun, Moon and the Planets,

Were so close to the Earth, 

That one could reach them,

If stretched one's hands,

From the Earth.

          Once,

          Sun and Moon were to get married,

          With all the Planets in attendance,

          All of them gave them blessings,

          To remain long married.

Soon they had children,

The stars we know of as today,

They wanted to remain together,

They wanted to remain long married.

         But Fate was not to be,

         Their wedding was not to be,

         Soon there were quarrels,

         Between you and me,

         And them and us.

Sun and Moon parted,

And very violent was the parting,

Moon being the mother,

Took the kids,

The terrible kids they might be,

Sun gave them his blessings,

And the night to rule,

While the day was his to rule.

     But still, the Moon misses the day,

     The bright Sun and his shine,

     The rays bright as they may be.

So, we still see her sometimes,

With her kids the stars not far behind,

If we look carefully,

On a hazy morning,

When the Sun is a little lazy,

To open his eyes

       But as soon as he does,

       Stars and Moon go back,

       To their land,

       In the hope to come back,

       On a day,

       When the Sun is a little lazy

       To rise early and shine bright.
