Such Is Life

Stumbled upon a stone and it asked,

Do you come in peace or to fight?

Startled, I kept looking

Does it lie in solace or in plight?

Is it happy or does it cry?

Is it dancing or just dead?

Is it raring to go or done?

Is it guided or just misled?

I sat down to talk to the stone,

To understand what it meant to say,

The beauty of it or the lack of,

Did it want to stay or just stray.

It spoke, and with such panache,

But asked the question again,

Do you come in peace or to fight,

I stood aghast instead of fleeing again,

And the conversation hence begun….
