Sonnet - "Companion"
Sonnet - "Companion"

Once upon a time, a thousand days back
The night before Christmas, she spent in a sack
Sparkles & sounds wrapped up the sky
Laughter and jingle people did enjoy
Quivering she was, with every blare of trumpet
Scared and hungry, craving for a crumpet
Came there a Santa, with bells and bags
Took off his robe and showing his rags
Tired but smiling, he had enough to eat
Pennies made a sound, the next day will be a treat
A whiff of cake inspired, to come out of her nook
Amazed and elated, in his arms the kitten he took
Who is the almsgiver, difficult to speculate
A companion on Christmas, to relish and celebrate
