Carrying water continuously through your chest,

You, the River, do not know how to take a rest.

Scorching Sun for days sometimes gives you a threat,

To lose your charm only through dehydration fest.

From mountain to ocean, water is carried through ages,

Monsoon brings back your normal jovial life after rages.

Melodious tune of ripples murmurs with soil at the edges,

Pujas were performed with offerings of holy water by the sages.

Golden rays of light float on your extended chest,

Fishes swim freely and weeds happily take rest.

Moon wants to look at its own image in you,

Reflection brings back her bright, appealing view. 

    

Your relentless contribution makes the Earth enrich,

Fishermen find their livelihood with your hearty clinch.

Being a mother, the hunger of many, you try to appease.

A tribute of all, dedicated to you, to have God’s bliss.
