Rain
Rain
Like a moneylender,
too greedy to practise usury,
rain is an obdurate heart,
too merciless to test our patience.
When the thirst of crops
augurs ultimatum,
when the shrivelled flowers
pray for rescue,
when animals become lifeless,
rain with all her vanity
drenches earth to mitigate
the pain of the inhabitants.
Yes, rain too makes us wait,
rain too makes us wait.
