Promises

Promises,

I don’t intend to make them,

not to myself, not to anyone else,

why... I don’t know

maybe I am wary of being bound,

to my expectations, and stirring ambitions,

worse still, to others and their way of life

But I still end up making them anyway

why... I don’t know

maybe it’s because I care,

about the smile that will light up a face,

and the warmth that fills up my heart,

all because a promise is fulfilled.
