Pressure
Pressure
Slowly the pressure increases,
Pushing down on my shoulders gently.
Pretending to be a reassuring squeeze,
It whispers fake promises in my ear.
Not believing the truths behind it all,
I believe the lies and deceit.
Until I finally realise the truth,
I won't notice the weight upon my shoulders;
By the time I do notice,
The pressure will be too much to handle.
Instead, I'll crumble beneath it -
Unable to stand up straight:
Trying to lessen the pressure,
While more gets added on top.
I fear the day I notice the pressure,
The day I'll begin to crumble...
For now, I will continue
Believing in the reassuring squeesressure
Slowly the pressure increases,
Pushing down on my shoulders gently.
Pretending to be a reassuring squeeze,
It whispers fake promises in my ear.
Not believing the truths behind it all,
I believe the lies and deceit.
Until I finally realise the truth,
I won't notice the weight upon my shoulders;
By the time I do notice,
The pressure will be too much to handle.
Instead, I'll crumble beneath it -
Unable to stand up straight:
Trying to lessen the pressure,
While more gets added on top.
I fear the day I notice the pressure,
The day I'll begin to crumble...
For now, I will continue
Believing in the reassuring squeeze
