Memories Of Another Day
Memories Of Another Day
Memories of another day
Day 21
The incessant rains
Brought memories
Of paper boats
And splashing muddy puddles,
Shared umbrellas,
Slanting rains
And drenched clothes.
Flashes of lightning,
Followed by
Exhilarating thunder,
More rain
And steaming tea.
Crankiness had stepped
Into old age
And did forage,
Forgotten memories.
Where was that person
Who laughed
And danced?
Where did the mirth
And girth go?
Into aches and pains
That never would go,
Into disappointment
And resentment,
That gathered encores!
Would that I could
Laugh at the aches,
And get back my mojo,
For these bitter twilight years
Are a sore.
It's all in the mind,
An inner voice
Whispered,
Unwind,
To find,
Peace.
