Let's Read
Let's Read
Today I'd like to sit and read,
This is something I really need,
I'll ignore the things I have to do,
And just enjoy a book or two.
Books about birds and things that grow,
Books about people we should know,
Books about animals and places too,
I love books, I really do!
Books have powers over me,
Inside a book I am not free,
But do not worry, do not fear,
I am a happy captive here.
Whether it's hot or extremely cold,
Whether you're ten or sixty years old,
Books are treasures filled not with gold,
But with wisdom for both young and old.
Each book is a magic box,
Which with a touch a child unlocks,
In between their outside covers,
Books hold all things for their lovers.
As we sail along the page,
To an adventurous land or another age,
Here we are sitting in our chair,
But our mind is over there.
Books are keys to wisdom's treasure,
Books are gates to lands of pleasure,
Books are paths that upward lead,
Books are friends: Come let us read.
Open a book and you will find,
People and places of every kind,
So, open a book and I will too,
You read to me, I'll read to you!
