HUMANITY
HUMANITY
Our world is reeling under a modern plague,
Toxins burn its skin and oil courses through each vein
Earth’s wounds fester as the plague propagates
Breaking down every defence at a destructive rate
Taking root soon after the Paleogene extinction,
This disease honed the art of rampant growth to perfection
As destructive as an uncontrolled cancer
It obliterated every bubbling brook and each verdant pasture
Stronger and mightier became th
e destroyer
Thinking itself a more accomplished artist than the Creator
“Development” and “advancement” was the lexicon new
Engulfing and overpowering all but a few
Quivering in its wake, we cannot come to the realisation,
The disease is destroying our very civilisation
“But how do we control this monster?” you may ask me
Well, Watson, it’s simply elementary,
Just look into the mirror and you shall see
The disease is nothing but humanity!
