How To Write A Poem

Writing a poem is like baking a cake,

For the first time.

You begin with the recipe,

Excited to follow rules, because that's something we obviously can do.

As you pour the batter into the pan,

And push into the over,

With the click of the oven closing

You realise you forgot the butter.

Writing a poem is like painting a potrait

You draw the facial features,

In scribbled lines and circles,

Slowly they turn to contours,and a face emerges,

A certain joy takes over your heart,

When you mix the right shades on your pallette,

And see the colors drain from your muse,

To that of your potrait.

Writing a poem is like learning to cycle,

Pedal-stop-pedal-stop-pedal.

Two trainer wheels-One trainer wheel- none.

It's almost like flying, 

While you feel like you're about to take off,

It's one of the first definitions of freedom,

You jotted down in your life.

Writing a poem is like writing a poem.

It's almost something else.

It's like you make the winds sway to your liking,

It's like you play the rhythm to your favourite beats.

Writing a poem is like narrating a graceful story,

It's all coming to life as poetry.
