Religion may be the opium of the masses, but is anyone brave enough to arrest the drug peddlers?
I have not studied beyond class four,
But people flock to me in lakhs and crores.
I do not know Sanskrit or the meaning of my mantras,
But when I open my mouth, everyone is entranced.
I put on saffron robes and an austere appearance,
But no one dares to check my bank balance.
I preach the virtues of Yoga and meditation,
But I am facing charges for rape and molestation.
I enjoin my devotees to abjure violence,
But I silence my critics with my influence.
I entreat people to have faith in devotion,
But I practice black magic and propagate superstition.
I clothe my mystical teachings in spiritual lingo,
But it is all unscientific and mere mumbo-jumbo.
I claim that I can cure every ailment or evil,
But in the process several lives I imperil.
I instill hope in the hearts of the dregs as well as elite,
But I indirectly prevent them from standing on their own feet.
I am the savior of those on whom befalls misfortune,
But I milk their credulity and make them dance to my tunes.
I am a man of God on whose mercy I am living,
But the upcoming elections I am contesting.
I thank my stars that I am in a country
Where the Gods may be crying, but Godmen make merry.
