Freedom In A Cage

The sky is open

And my heart is closed

The possibilities are wide

But my will isn't strong

I look for freedom

But freedom isn't found

I desire to fly

But I know I will fall

The walls are my cage

And my smile is a shadow

The gems are my manacles

And my words are hollow

To those who look from far

I seem the luckiest of all

But I can't own my happiness

And still pretend to stand tall

I act as a puppet

Pulled with the strings

Forced into an alliance

A union that stings

Only if I could raise my voice

And have the privilege of choice

Choices that only I make

Choices made for a cause

I wish I could be the bird

Who is born in a cage

Unaware about its abilities

And deprived of its rage

The bird that sets itself free

By finding freedom in a cage
