Fallen Angel
Fallen Angel

She walked the skies
Leaving fragrant footprints
Her eyes like the clear pools
Spoke the language of love.
Her touch lighter than feather
Healed all she touched.
She smiled and the clouds parted,
Her tears melted frozen hearts.
Cradled in doting arms she slept
Dreaming of stars and rainbows.
Each dawn brought new colors
Each sunset ended with a new hope.
The devil watched with a snare
As she danced unaware.
He waited to catch her wings
That shone with rainbow colors.
The strings around her heart grew weak
Her steps faltered and lo she fell
She thought it to be a bough of roses
But it pierced her heart and she bled.
She ran into the doting arms
But they no longer secured her.
Her tears fell silent
her feet no longer danced.
She looked longingly at the moon
Tears glistened in the moonlight
As they fell they burned her
Body and soul.
They devil laughed menacingly
n>He longed to strip her To thrust her to the fire And turn colors black. In a disguise did he arrive Before her he stood with roses and dreams Caution bells did ring, admonishing her But she ran and slipped. She saw plumes of varied hues Music rang in the air Melodies that lulled senses The devil stripped her of all. Lower she fell Into the fires and singed her wings Colors vanished and meadows turned dry Tears fell her heart fell silent. She heard a wail and she looked A nymph with wings that shone like the sun Smiled back at her and touched her tenderly Her heart sung again with lost songs. Among angels and midst of clouds She no longer smiled lest the devil heard her The nymph held on to her teaching her to fly. The fallen angel catching the rainbow within her heart Colors shone from her wings again Prisms of colors that spoke her story to all.
She flew again with broken wings
She rose a little higher with broken wings
