Fading friendships

Fading friendships

Strange how someone can go from home to history,
From constellations to stars just no longer connected.
We are the bookmarks in chapters we will never reopen,
Once intertwined like verses of same poem, we now exist as separate stanzas of silence.
Time didn’t steal you , silence slowly unlearned your name,
We faded the way twilight surrenders color — beautifully and without protest,
Our bond dissolved into the margins of time, where forgotten feelings gather dust,
Our friendship faded not with conflict, but with the slow erosion of presence,
I chose the library lights and in the shadows our laughter dimmed ,
My silence was ambition but it sounded like distance to some ,
We became parallel lives that no longer intersect,
What once felt eternal now survives only as a fragile recollection,
Ever running time edits friendships without asking for consent,
Memory preserves what reality quietly releases.
A friendship requires a hand from both the souls,
When one leaves without notice , the bond shrivels and shrinks ,
Only a collage of memories remains in the corner of the heart,
A heart that never wanted to leave it's piece which it loved so dearly.
