Do Words Mean Anything?

Do the words we express

Mean anything these days?

Or,

Are they just there to

Assure us that we are

Different from other species?

If they do mean something

Then why does it feel

Like a void amongst souls?

Is it because we don't have

The capability to understand them anymore?

Or,

Is it because we just don't care?

There are so many people

Who will scream out their opinions

When they want to make a point

Regardless of what others may feel,

But there are thousands more

Who will keep mum around them

Unless they are required to speak,

Why is there always a misunderstanding

Of how words are being used?

Why are there always some people

Who love to misinterpret them?

Words were used to spread love,

Spread joy among the people,

Help them heal when in distress,

Then why does it feel

That they have lost their meaning today?

Lost what was known as its essence,

Lost what was known as a promise to one another,

Why have we created a situation

Where words today are

Just noise to us?

Have we lost power

To control them?

Or,

Is it just the reality of

How we deal with each other

With lesser dignity and apprehension?
