Do I Know You?

Our eyes connect

You watch as my eyes start to glimmer

See a smile happy as can be spread across my face

My very being seems to exude excitement

"Hello!"

A chipper, upbeat voice cuts through the air

It is mine

You say hello back with a smile

We pass each other

You continue walking

Wondering

'Do I know them?'

I continue walking, going back to whatever I was thinking about, or trying to remember a lost train of thought

I don't think twice about the encounter, this kind of exchange is very normal to me

I may not know you

But I was very happy to see you

After all, life can be very tiring, hurtful, as well as stressful

Sometimes, it feels hard to move

Sometimes, you wonder if anyone 'sees' you...

Such things can bring about horrible thoughts

But you are still here

I may not know you

But I am proud of you

I see you

Alive and breathing

And to me

That's a huge deal!

I may not know you

But the happiness and excitement I exude during our brief interaction?

It is very much real
