Desert Rain

It amused him to reflect on relatives;

He'd more love to mother's side 

Though he loved none deep enough. 

His son's love was to father's side

Though he loved only a beautiful lass .

He had heard of infinite love,

And of God's love for Creation 

But wondered only at the expanse within,

The desert where self-love alone rained .
