Childhood

Childhood

Gone are the days when we were innocent,

Living each day to its fullest,

Not worrying about what tomorrow holds.

Gone are those days,

When our dad carried us on his shoulder,

As our mom fed us dinner.

Gone are those days,

When I longed for her lullaby to sleep,

Which protected me from the devil at night.

Gone are those days,

When we used to celebrate our birthdays,

Wearing new dress,

Running to each class holding our best friend's hand,

And distributing candies.

Gone are those days,

When we used to play in the park,

Aiming to go higher than the other on the swings.

Gone are those days,

When we used to play on the street,

Breaking our neighbor's windowpane

And running off before they catch us.

Gone are those days,

When we believed in tooth fairy,

Santa Claus coming down through the chimney,

Waiting for the Easter bunny to show up with gifts.

Gone are those days,

When we used to keep peacock's feather,

In-between the pages of our book,

Hoping it would give birth to smaller ones.

Born are the days,

Where we think of the days that had gone by,

Which brings a tear to one's eye.
