Bye
Bye
Let me then go Oh! my Mom!
In morn, finding me not near,
Would you look for your ‘Khoka’?
I would shout – ‘I amn’t there!’
Let me then go Oh! my Mom!
Flowing with wind as wind,
Would glide over your bosom,
You can’t catch and keep me behind!
Would like to be waves in water,
None would know about it,
I would play with you while you bathe there.
When rains would pour and pour!
You would think of me sure,
I would sing songs of rain from forest galore!
Down I come from clouds
Through your window,
I get a glimpse of you all on a sudden
Would you remember my smile, then?
If you, for me, can’t sleep,
And stay awake late at night,
I would become a star,
And would tell you – “Fall asleep!”
When you are in deep slumber,
Would enter your room as moon rays,
And kiss you on your eyes.
Through the gap of your eye lids, as dream,
I would come to see you Oh! Mom here!
And enter into the midst of thy sleep there.
Waking up with a high hope dear,
You would try touching me by your side,
I would vanish – know not where?
During Puja when boys
Would play in the courtyard all around,
You would look for ‘Khoka’ -
“Isn’t he there in the room surround?”
Then I would wander across the sky,
Would return to accompany in your work thereby!
If my aunt asks you about me
Holding new clothes in hand
“Where is your ‘Khoka’”
Tell her – “Could ‘Khoka’ be lost inland?
He is within my eyeballs
And lives within my bosom overalls”
