Black and White
Black and White
yesterday’s sorrows take on a lighter shade of blue
as today’s flowers bloom into joy
there lies an odd pleasure
in recalling expired agony
they say count your blessings
but we subtract the tears
plain ol’ satisfaction bows down
to gain that is the loss of a pain
the sun has its brightest glory
at rise and set for good reason
for when it wipes the darkness
is the only time we notice the light
