Ballad For The Bibliophile
Ballad For The Bibliophile
(All book titles are in Italics)
In 1984, in the Animal Farm
There lived A Horse Whisperer
Who told the tale of the Arabian Nights
To Midnight Children.
The child Jonathan swiftly began Gulliver’s Travels
With Three Men in a Boat
And was Gone with the Wind,
And found the Treasure in Islands.
Grew up to be The Man Who Would be King.
He built a Ghost Ship
And set on Sail Away towards the east.
He made the Discovery of India
Wherein he got Tied Up in Knots
Now he lives with his (My) Family and Other Animals in a brown house
Whom he ferries in his Ferrari
When the children were Growing Up in The Brown House
He left An Impossible Inheritance.
He took to Philosophy Made Simple
And disposed of his Ferrari.
He took a Long Walk to Freedom
And took A Train to Pakistan.
He died a Sudden Death
And the epitaph read
Here lies The Monk Who Sold the Ferrari
