The shrieking alarm disturbed my dream

I rolled and sighed

It did not want to leave the warmth

The bed felt usually soft

I tried to find my phone

I developed this habit over the years

The bright light and meaningless updates seemed to do the trick

A few minutes of social media

Opened my eyes wide awake

Listen did I realise my day began without any inspiration

There was no positive reinforcement

Then I realised my mistake

Maybe this was not an ideal way to start a day

I walked out to my garden

The sky was still dark

The clouds formed interesting shapes

The birds seemed busy and active

My inspiration for the day was right in front of me
