Anticipating Love
Anticipating Love
My heart in silence aches for the words of my love
Waiting by the river and under the skies.
My words falter and voices depart,
And heart still beats yearning for love
I asked the river in its hurried stream,
"Does your beloved dwell in a distance ?"
Anxious and shy, it danced its way,
to meet the sea far away
And then a cloud came wandering,
"Where do you haste?" I questioned its flight,
"To quench the earth's thirst, in daylight,
earth yearns for my touch", the cloud proclaimed
With roars of affection and lightning it poured its rain of love on earth.
River and cloud, in their devotion
Journeyed to where their loves lay.
I still wait near the river side, yearning for my love far away...
