An Unforgettable Experience

An Unforgettable Experience

It was to take place after thanksgiving day,

Much to my great dismay,

As everyone else was to return to class,

For at least 3 days I'd have a pass.

For today my wisdom teeth were to take,

And this would lead to a longer break,

That was the only good which I could see,

For I knew I'd have to live in misery.

As I took my seat in the dentist's chair,

I tried my best not to care,

As the local anaesthetic went into me,

My surroundings appeared too hard to see.

Each breath that I would take,

Suddenly felt like the hardest effort I'd had to make,

then my surroundings began to slow

And before I knew it into oblivion I did go.

I faintly heard someone call my name,

And sluggishly back to the present, I came,

The procedure is done in a wheelchair I'd left,

To my home where I could rest.

When to the school I did return,

Though I did my best to learn,

There were times my head did swim,

And suddenly my surroundings would go dim.

All those times in the hospital never prepared me for this,

It was the only time that there'd be things I'd miss

That's the first time I remembered anaesthetic being given to me,

But I can tell you there were worse things I'd come to see.
