A Teacher's Dream
A Teacher's Dream
Fell asleep marking an end
To a long day of perilous work
Educating the young, considered
The greatest art of all
Moulding minds and souls to yield
A masterpiece or very rarely, a disaster
Found myself at a mammoth doorway
Where it leads, I know not
But it was well lit, why not walk in
All the faces I have ever taught
Adorn the sides, with uniformity
Faces memorable, some dear and distant too
Sitting at a hearing after getting through
Was wondering what it was all about
Are you guilty or not? roared the bench
Me? a sudden panic took hold
Yes! for giving up on your sheep
For letting them down so deep
Falling short in your part
You are to be blamed for those
Hope is what you must hold to
Even the darkest clouds carry a silver line
The weariest of hearts can dream again
And some dreams are never to be forgotten
