A Requiem

A Requiem

2 mins
154

On this blank canvas,

I wish to write a requiem.

Of withered emotions in pained hearts,

Of wet eyes with broken dreams.

A familiar scent brings back memories,

Of a love that once was in full bloom.

Who knew a few sparks could start such a terrible fire,

The darkness that followed brings unfathomable gloom.

As I walk through those familiar alleys,

I forget the sadness for a while.

A song comes to my mind,

The one you sang to make me smile.

I used to wonder for how long,

Time would let us be ‘us’.

Because it makes the mountains crack,

And even roses fade to dust.

I don’t know the road from here,

I don’t know if I'll get another chance.

Now life is nothing but black and white,

There are no colors without your romance.

But I do know this in my heart of hearts,

It's you who matters, your happiness is dear.

Till life lets me start all over again,

I'll be happily lost in my dream of the yesteryear.
