Once in the land of Kannauj, lived a King, known for his kindness and love towards people. Everyone in his kingdom loved him. Similarly, the neighbouring kingdom of Etawah, was ruled by a sadist king. Both the kings were poles opposite. The king of Kannauj would forgive the sinners, whereas the king of Etawah would make them repent for their crime, mercilessly. News about them was quite famous in the entire land of Bharatvarsh. On the other end of Bharatvarsh, the talks of Princess of Avanti were becoming quite popular. The princess was to be wedded off soon, and the potential bridegroom was being searched. The king of Avanti knew about the kings of Kannauj and Etawah, and knowing their power and persona, he knew that though both were equally powerful, the king of Kannauj was more beloved by the people there. He wanted to wed his daughter to him. Thinking of this, he went to his daughter and told him about everything. His daughter, the Princess, though thought to be meek was actually a powerful lioness, ready to lunge on anyone who tried to eye her kingdom like a prey. She wanted the groom to be someone who would believe in equality. She told her father, that she wasn't entirely ready for an alliance with the King of Kannauj and would actually like to test both the kings. The king of Avanti agreed to her idea.

In order to test them, both the kings were invited to the kingdom of Avanti. After a day and two of hospitality. They were told about the competition. They both were given equal number of gardeners and were asked to develop two parts of a barren plot as they liked.

Both the kings agreed. For the first two days everything turned out smoothly. But the third day, the water from the sprinklers had stopped on both the sides. The complaint was sent to the administration of Avanti. The princess, herself decided to look into the matter. Whoever, had planned it, he was smart as he had blocked only the water to both the plots and not to the kingdom. The princess said that it would take a few days for the water blockage to be removed and also said about a well that was half- a- mile from the plot.

Both the kings thought of getting the water from there so that their hardwork of two days does not go in vain. The good king, King of Kannauj , helped his gardeners to lift and bring the water whereas, the bad king, the king of Etawah just ordered his gardeners to fetch the water. All of this was witnessed by the princess and the ministers. They knew that a good king, would be the one who did not differentiate between people . The next day, both the kings where called to the court room, where the princess announced that she would marry King of Kannauj.

Etawah king was angry as he felt humiliated, and wanted to wage a war. But the combined forces of both Kannauj and Avanti were something to be scared of and so he ran away.

Later, The Princess and The king of Kannauj got happily married and lived a happy life administering both the kingdoms. After five years , they were blessed with twin kids - a girl and a boy. Both were groomed to be warriors. And thus the story comes to an end.
