The Travel Disaster

It was early morning. The dark grey clouds had obscured the sky. The wind was lashing the city of Willowtin now and then. The view appeared to be both spooky and beautiful. A teenage girl with blonde hair and a ponytail dashed out of her house and ran towards a bright blue car. She clung to her hat, making sure it didn't fly away with the wind.

"Get in the car before it begins to rain!" Scarlett exclaimed.

Scarlett was carrying a dark grey bag. She was dressed elegantly in an embroidered dress and wore dark sunglasses.

"I'm on my way, Mom!" Florianda spoke up.

Florianda's mother, Scarlett, opened the car door for her daughter. Florianda sat comfortably on the dark brown leather seat and rested her arm on the arm-rester. Scarlett walked around the car and sat on the driver's seat. The mother-daughter duo was on their way to Shruttaine. They didn't like the monsoon season, so they preferred to spend the season at Maria's house in Shruttaine. Maria was Scarlett's sister and Florianda's aunt. They always had a good time at Maria's house as it was summer in Shruttaine when it was monsoon in Willowtin. Scarlett began driving. Florianda started to feel hungry after an hour.

"Mom, I'm starving...Can I have something to eat?" Florianda inquired of her mother as her tummy growled.

"Sure thing, kiddo! In the rear, there's a packet of chips. I'll stop the car in a few moments so you can go get it." Scarlett responded.

Scarlett came to a halt after a few moments. Florianda walked back and looked for the packet of chips.

"Mom, what colour is the packet?" Florianda inquired eagerly of her mother.

"It's bright green. Why? Are you unable to find it?" Scarlett uttered.

"No… Are you certain you packed it? There isn't any food in here!" Florianda said as she expressed her concern.

"Didn't you pack it? I thought I asked you to do it." Scarlett said with an eyebrow raised.

"Oh, crap! Does it mean we won't be able to eat anything for the next six hours?" Florianda said with a sad sigh.

"Don't worry, there's a shop nearby; all we have to do is cross that bridge over there and voila! We'll make it to the shop. We can stay for half an hour and fill our stomachs." Scarlett said as she attempted to pacify Florianda.

"All right, so what are we waiting for, mom? Let's go!" Florianda exclaimed cheerfully.

As soon as they stepped out of the car, it began to rain. Droplets of chilly water rained down from the sky above. They returned inside and opened a black umbrella. It didn't take them long to notice that the umbrella had holes in it. They got back in the car and drove away. With each passing second, the rain became thicker and heavier. That wasn't it! The water rose to a greater level, causing traffic. The mother-daughter duo was stalled in traffic for a long period, and just as the traffic light turned green and all the cars proceeded, the honking ceased. The bright blue car stood there blocking a part of the road. Their car's tyre had been punctured! They had to starve until they arrived at their summer destination.

The only positive thing that happened was that the rain stopped as they neared their destination. Could they have returned safely? Yes, indeed! Every problem has a solution, even if it isn't the best one... but you must explore all options. Florianda had forgotten that she had brought two skateboards. One for her, the other for her aunt. She gave her mother one skateboard and kept the other for herself. Scarlett was sitting on her skateboard. Nobody can learn to skateboard that quickly! It took them twice as long to get there, but they didn't give up. What about the car? Let's just say it was placed near a mall with the doors shut.
