The Mysterious Eyes

When we ignore nature, nature comes to us to teach us.

'Thak, thak, thak... the door knocked. Kirti rose up and with one eye closed, opened the door. 

Her mother was standing at the door.

' Can't you wake up on your own...see what's the time.' Mother cried pointing her finger at the clock hanging on the side wall of the room. It was eight in the clock.

'Get ready and come on the breakfast table...hurry up!'....her mother shouted.

Now Kirti was fully awakened. She went to the washroom...got ready and joined her parents at the breakfast table.

After having breakfast she asked her parents to take her to zoo for a trip. But her father refused. Then she asked them to take her to DB mall... she had seen a pink frock there on her previous visit. Her parents had promised to buy it in their next visit. Again her father said, ' no.' Now Kirti asked her mother that she wanted to go to her friend's house. Now her mother scolded her--'you naughty girl, you'll not go anywhere.' 'Sit at home and finish your homework. You have not yet completed your maths homework, your teacher has given you in online class.'

'But Mom, school is closed since one month and I'm got bored sitting all day at home' -- Kirti murmured.

 It is lockdown in the whole country due to corona virus... COVID -19. It is a highly communicable disease. We should stay at home. Me too is doing work from home dear, her father exhorted.

Kirti didn't say anything. She quietly went to her study room to do her homework.

The day passed just wandering here and there in the house.

At night she ate her dinner and went to sleep in the room.

In her sleep, she saw a dream.

A lady in blue saree came to her. She was wearing mask on her face, yet with her half face exposed, she was looking gorgeous, especially her eyes. Those were deep and telling. The colour of the eyes were more blue than of any ocean. A halo was present behind her head.

The lady told Kirti that she is Mother Earth. She is restless as she can't breathe properly due to the poison human being have dissolved in the air due to their activity. Smog, smoke, particulate matter, and now corona made her suffocating.

 Mother Earth directed Kirti -- " Sweet little girl ! Plant five plants -- Barbeton Daisy, Snake plant, Chrysanthemum, Dracaena and Spider plant in her balcony or roof top." She told Kirti that these plants are air purifiers. These will cleanse air for her.

Thak..thak..thak.. again the door knocked. Kirti rose up.. "Oh!.. it was a dream, but how amazing"... she thought in her mind.

She opened the door...her mother was standing at the door..."again you are late, breakfast is on the table....get ready and join us, come on, hurry up," her mother said.

Within no time, Kirti took a shower and joined her parents for breakfast.

Kirti told her parents about the dream... how a beautiful lady calling herself Mother Earth, having a shining halo behind her head and a mask on her face appeared before her and directed her to plant five plants.

'Wow! this is amazing, but how can we manage to get those plants in lockdown' - said her father.

'Dreams are dreams. Complete your breakfast and be prepared for your online class' - said her mother in annoying voice.

After Kirti left breakfast table. 'How can she know name of those plants; she is only seven years old,' --said Kirti's mother.

'And you realized, these all are air purifying plants'-- said her father.

At 12' O clock in the afternoon.

Tring, tring, tring..door bell rang. Kirti's mother opened the door. A poor lady was standing at the door. She asked her to serve her some food, as she was hungry from the last 3 days.

Kirti's mother went to the kitchen to take out some food. While the poor lady asked Kirti's father to get her some water to drink. Kirti's father left to arrange some water for her.

Hopping here and there Kirti reached at the door. She saw the poor lady. She was looking ugly. But then, looked at her eyes. They were deep and mesmerizing.

'It seems I have been seen you, but where can't get it now,'.. Kirti said. The poor lady didn't say anything but just smiled. Kirti walked away from there.

'Omg! Howz that'... her mother screamed... Kirti's father ran towards the door. 

Stock of five plants were present at the door and there was no trace of the poor lady.

' It is unbelievable, look at these stocks. These are of the plants our daughter was telling in the morning...,' father said.

' That's mean our daughter's dream was real. Mother Earth really came to her dream.' -- mother said.

By then, Kirti reached there. She was happy to see those plantlets. With the help of her father she sown them in pots and watered them.

Now she used to pass her time nurturing those plants. After one month the plants grew up and were looking beautiful.

One night when Kirti was sleeping, she saw a dream. ' Dear child, I'm proud of you,'..Mother Earth said. 'Encourage your five friends to plant more plants like you'... directed Mother Earth. Mask was not on her face.

Kirti looked into her eyes. Those were really mysterious. A certain charm was there that if one peep into them, can't be left mesmerized. They possessed more depth than any ocean has. Now Kirti remembered, those were the eyes of the poor lady who left those plant stocks at her door.
