Once upon a time, there was a knight named Clarendon from a small place Lorwerth. He was a great warrior. The King of Lorwerth sent Clarendon to Persia to serve Solestes, one of the governors of a Persian state as a bodyguard for the rest of his life.

One day the Prince of Persia called upon Governor Solestes to meet him in his office. The meeting was about clearing the state dues. Solestes tells his bodyguard Clarendon to make the arrangements for the travel. Once they reached there to meet the Prince, it was told to them that the Prime Minister Kalindan would meet them first as per the Prince's orders.

Kalindan was a greedy person and was expecting bribes and expensive gifts from the people he met. Solestes did not want to encourage to give bribes or any expensive gifts to Kalindan, so he got very angry and left the meeting. Clarendon requested Solestes that he would later go and get 100 gold coins as a gift to make Kalindan happy, but the Governor did not agree.

The next morning Kalindan called Solestes and misbehaved with him and in return, the Governor slapped him. To this Kalindan complained to the Prince and the Governor was arrested. Later Kalindan made wrong accusations on the Governor which the Governor did not accept and got angry at Kalindan in front of the Prince. The Prince then said that the Governor had to have a severe punishment. Then Kalindan convinced the Prince to make Clarendon behead Solestes.

At first, Clarendon was hesitant but in the end, he had to carry out the order. Kalindan said we shall now occupy your state. Everyone had to move to new states or stay in the forest. They all moved to the forest.

One week later in the forest, Clarendon met a tribe skilled in warfare. The chief heard Clarendon's story and promised to help him plan revenge. A year passed. Kalindan thought that Clarendon disappeared. But, that night Clarendon and the tribes silently slinked into the palace, killed everyone near Kalindan's chamber took him to the gallows and hanged him.

Kalindan confessed before his death that he killed the Prince. In the morning, Clarendon told everyone in the kingdom what had happened and then he ruled the kingdom for the rest of his life peacefully.
