THE LITTLE ROGER SKUNK
THE LITTLE ROGER SKUNK
Everyday is a new day, surroundings change, climate changes, but a skunk’s smell never. Little Roger Skunk lives with his parents. He loves to play with other little animals but no one wants him to join because he smelled bad. This is what happens everyday.
One day, Little Roger Skunk was so disappointed that he sought out to find a way to change his body odor. His journey to the dream was so hard, yet he didn’t give up his hopes. Somehow, he found the Wise Owl who knew the answers to all his questions. The Wise Owl was sitting on a tree hole. He could smell the Little Skunk’s smell from miles and had just commented about it. The Skunk came forward and told the Owl about his situations and difficulties. The Owl thought of something for a minute and directed the Skunk towards the Old Wizard who lives in the middle of the forest.
The Little Skunk follows the instructions given by the Wise Owl and reaches the Wise Wizard’s door. He let the Wizard know all of his miseries and issues. The Wizard suggested that he could change his odor so that he could play with other little animals. The Little Skunk readily accepted and the Wizard cast some spells and changed his odor to that of roses. The entire room was now filled with the smell of roses. He paid the Wizard and left for his house.
On his way he found that all the little animals liked his new smell, they all invited him to play. He enjoyed it. He went home happily after playing, but everything changed from there. His mother scolded him for changing his smell and enquired about the incidents that had taken place. He told her everything in detail without missing a single piece of evidence. She took him back to the Wise Wizard and asked him to change the little skunk’s smell back to the one it was. When the Wizard refused to do what mother Skunk told him she became very angry and she hitted him with the broom that was next to her and he changed the Little Skunk’s smell back to the disgusting one earlier.
The Little Skunk was not able to accept this, he questions his mother on their way back home. At first she remains quiet but later she lets him know her reasons to change his odor back to the one earlier. She doesn’t want him to get into any trouble. What if bees surround him due to the roses smell? What if the predator aims at him? His bad odor was the one so good to protect him and as a mother she did choose this. After giving a little thought, Little Roger Skunk finds and realizes his mistakes and apologies to his mother for questioning her and helps her to prepare dinner and waits for Father Skunk to tell about his whole new adventure.
