The Journey Of A Student's Life

‘Life is a journey’, I think I learnt about that fact at an early age, and it just becomes so true when it is time to prepare for my exams. It all started with the thunderous bashing from my beloved mom rebuking me to start studying early, and all that a mother usually says to her child asking him to study. I just do not know what to do when she is berating me, I usually look down and try to listen to what she says.

So, without wasting much time, I boarded the ‘ship of studies.’ The ship from outside looked just like our apartment. It was just called a ship because it was stationary and everything around it was pretty normal. Once you step in, only then you realize that it is like a ship. My deck on the ship was just like my room, only confined to the fact that it was filled with various books which were essential for me to prepare for my exams. It had several other decks which included my parents’ room, my friends and their family's rooms. But this ship was no ordinary ship, its medium of transport was time and this ‘time machine’ would not stop until the day which every single student fear has reached. Thankfully, I could still go down the deck and play with my friends on board the ship. It was a hard time, but everyone has to go through it whether they are proficient sailors or beginners. The wiser students told me that an exam is just the testing of your knowledge, but I feel that if it was just the testing of knowledge, then why would anybody put so much of pressure on it? Soon, the final destination of the ship arrived.

Brimmed with agitation and terror, I disembarked the ship and laid my numb feet on the ‘Education Dockyard'. It was a bustling place with ships coming one after the other, students walking as if the world was going to end, teachers and other officials running in all directions. In the far distance, I could see a huge parking lot filled with yellow-colored buses. After walking around a hundred meters, I found a taxi waiting for my arrival. The taxi was a very cozy place to be in, but I just couldn’t use all of its comfort and features because I was feeling very restless. Sudden thoughts were just popping in my mind, that I forgot the formulae or I forgot what was the definition of that term. Outside the window of the cab, I could see the parking lot coming closer and closer. In a short while, I had reached my destination. Quickly starting my ‘Quest of the Bus Mission’, I soon found my school’s bus and this bus was called ‘The Examination Bus’. My hands started trembling with fear as I mounted my shaky leg onto the ‘bus of examination’ Just when I entered the bus, my lower jaw just fell in admiration.

This automobile wonder contained over a thousand rows of tables and chairs bustling with students. The invigilators were the bus conductors who were clutching bundles of paper. I calmly nestled onto my designated seat and started chatting with my friends. The bus’s horn cautioned me that the exam was going to start and slowly started locomoting towards the Education Dockyard. On questioning my invigilator while she was giving me my papers, I learnt that the bus would be taking two hours to reach the dockyard instead of fifteen minutes (this means that the bus would be moving slower than usual). There was another burst of horn and I hastily ignited my mind and initiated the scribbling on the answer sheet(s). I felt like I was vomiting on the answer sheet(s) what I had learnt at the ‘Ship of Studies’.

In no time, the bus reached the Education Dockyard and one of the invigilators on board collected my answer sheet. It went pretty well actually, but I do not know where I will lose my marks. Calmly boarding my Ship of Studies, I thought that I had to do five more repetitions of the exams. The next six days (Monday to Saturday) of my life were all the same, after which, everything became normal. After these six days, I got a week of holidays and after that was another eerie story.

Finally, I was back at school. The most trending topic at school was the results. We were receiving our exam papers one after the other that day. I did well in some and a bit below expectations in the others. But I was happy, that the journey from studying from my exams to receiving my results was finally over!
