The Bug's Mission

There was a high peak mountain spread along with the wide shore of the south sea. It was too high to climb. Amazingly the sea-side of the mountain was almost bald and salty. There was excess of sand over there and little of greenery. So the insects and tiny animals like spiders, cockroaches, butterflies, their caterpillars, frogs, lizards, etc didn't have sufficient food to eat.

Thousands of years earlier, there was a lot of greenery there. The reptiles and bugs lived together in harmony. But one day....a great King Cobra came to their land! He told them that they were to consider him as their King! All the reptiles agreed, as he was a great serpent but the bugs refused. So,the king cobra turned all the greenery into ashes by stinging them one by one and the afraid reptiles attacked the bugs on their new king's orders. At this, every one of them including their king was struck by the elemental powers of the bugs. A few years later they returned with a fury. So, the chief of the bugs used his elemental powers to put a curse on all of them, and the curse was that the reptiles would be stuck on the other side of the mountain never to be seen again.

 One day, when all these friends were sitting somewhere, a bunch of green food fell in middle of them. They all were surprised and saw upward towards the sky. They saw a Golden Eagle flying there. They waved their hands towards it and requested to come down.

The Golden Eagle dived and landed near them.

''Welcome, sir!" said altogether,'' And thank you for this precious gift.''

''Dear friends, '' the Golden Eagle started to say,'' For a long time, I see from the sky that you don't have sufficient food to eat on this side of the mountain. I know that on the other side of this mountain there lies plenty of food for you and your people, So today I brought this bunch of food for you from there.''

''Thanks again, sir.'' Said the eldest amongst them and asked, ''How would we be able to get this food daily?''

After some months, a butterfly named Rikki found a kind of food which if planted, would grow many crops, just about enough for every bug on the mountain to get it. And then whatever food the bug wanted, the plant would make. This secret he didn't tell to anyone and journeyed across the mountain. He hid the great treasure in a cave and returned to his people. Then he gave an announcement that he had hidden a great treasure on the other side of the mountain and only the purest bug/s of all would be able to cross the mountain and get the treasure, but he didn't tell them what the treasure was. After some years, he died due to old age. The chief sent the most courageous bugs to try to cross the mountain and get to the treasure, but sadly none returned because they were caught serpents on which their old leader had put a curse on and was put in prison. All the villagers knew that when someone touched the treasure they would control the king Cobra. They had no other information about the mysterious treasure. Little did the know that some of the most normal bugs would get to the treasure..... And return with it!

After thousands of years, a spider and a caterpillar were going on a journey across the mountain.

After some time, they met an ant, he asked them, ''where are you going?'' 

"We are going on a journey across this mountain." replied the caterpillar.

"But this mountain is gigantic! why do you want to go across it?" asked the ant.

"We have heard that there is a great treasure on the other side of this mountain." Said the caterpillar, "Many bugs have tried to cross it but none have returned."

"So we thought, that we could also try to cross it." Added the spider, " Although there are many serpents on the way, who guard the treasure. Once we have defeated the monsters and touched the treasure, the monster king would become our servant."

"What would happen then?" Asked the ant curiously.

 "Then we would be able to free all the bugs who had been captured by the monsters. So all of us can go to our homes with all the treasure and pleasure!" Told the caterpillar.

"Well, " Said the ant, "I will also join you on this adventurous and courageous mission of kindness."

"You are welcome." Said both.

Thus, the three friends set off to find the treasure and to free their companion bugs.

After some time... they found a huge chameleon. They ran and ran from the chameleon, but in vain. Suddenly, the spider threw her web to the chameleon's legs. It slipped and fell down. Thus they saved their lives from the chameleon.

But it wasn't going to be so easy. The chameleon had magical powers. It made a tall wall. The spider threw another long thread and climbed on top of the wall. The other two watched. The spider said, "What are you waiting for? Do you need an invitation? climb up."

They followed and were very happy that they were saved from the chameleon.

"What could trouble us now?" said one of them.

With that, they continued there journey.

On the way, the caterpillar felt something inside him, and had no clue what it was. The other two were puzzled too. Suddenly... the caterpillar fell down, and from his body, emerged a butterfly! The caterpillar had evolved to become a butterfly!

''Yahoo! I can fly!''Said the butterfly who had once been a caterpillar happily.

While they were talking to each other, especially to the butterfly... They heard a swoosh. ''What was that?'' Asked the spider.When they saw the answer to that, they thought they were living a nightmare. A giant Golden Eagle was flying above them, and they thought that it was going to dive and attack them! The butterfly was a flying creature, so he thought it was his responsibility to keep his friends safe. So he told them to hide and told them that he would fight the Eagle since he was the only who could fly amongst them. Wen he glided up into the air....he was surprised that the Eagle wasn't attacking him.''Why aren't you trying to kill me?'' He asked it

''Why would I want to? I'm simply flying'' Replied the Eagle ''We could become friends, you know.''

''Yes, even I have some friends, I'll introduce you to them said the butterfly

As he had said, he introduced the Eagle, told him where they were going, and why they were going there.

Then, with the Eagle they continued their journey hoping to find more mighty friends, just like the Eagle.

On the way, the eagle told them about his family. His family contained his mother, father and him, who were all golden eagles and his brother, who was a black/dark eagle. His parents were very fond of him and despised his brother. Due to that, his brother had mercilessly killed them. He was contained and controlled by an evil spirit and lived on the other side of the mountain, ruling over that side. He was the only family he had left. And he had to fight him one day, when this war would be over once and for all. Bugs and reptiles would rejoice, being stronger than ever. And the two eagles would rule this civilization.

The bugs felt sorry for the eagle, but the last part was amazing. They continued the journey in peace...... at least until the saw their next enemy!

They were face-to-face with a..,.... you guessed it, with a turtle. And not just any turtle, the Alligator Snapping Turtle!! They were thinking about what the eagle had said, and none of them noticed it until the eagle shouted "Turtle!" The eagle and butterfly flew up in the air and the spider and ant scattered. all of them except the eagle at once went to hit the turtle's shell thinking that it was its weak point, but the eagle swooped down at its eye, blinding it instantly. The other three recovered from there shock of hitting the hard shell and followed the eagle's example except that they weren't so lucky. The turtle closed its other eye understanding their motive. Suddenly the spider got a brainwave, he spun a web directly under the shell. The turtle got confused, slipped and went sliding all the way to the other side of the mountain, only to return again as a baby. " Arghhh! not again!" the baby turtle complained "I'd taken so much time to grow that big, now I've to wait so much. For the second time!" They continued their journey, looking all around them for reptiles.

Meanwhile, on the other side, the messenger told the black eagle news about activity going on the other side of the mountain. "Sire, Some bugs are trying to cross this mountain!" "Just capture them like we did with the others." The eagle replied lazily. "But sire, they have defeated the chameleon and turtle with some trouble! and they have your brother as their companion!" "What? That's ridiculous! Send our best fighters, the snakes against them. and quick!" replied the eagle, surprised.

On the other side the eagle was training the bugs to blend in with the surroundings and telling them about the weakness of each reptile. Finally he told that his brother's weakness was water, at least the spirit who was controlling him. After the eagle was sure they were ready, they continued. They only stopped when they saw the army of snakes coming towards them. They blend in with their surroundings, but one of the snakes spotted them. "There they are!" he said pointing at them. The 4 friend s jumped onto the tails and ran with all their might. The snakes followed them "Snakessss, surround them". But the eagle had a few tricks left up his sleeve. He carried them and flew away! When they landed, they were right in front of the treasure, but something was between them!

It was the King Cobra himself! But finally luck seemed to have found them, he was sleeping! So they touched the treasure and ordered him to stop fighting with them, he followed and then suddenly the black eagle swooped in. Their friend eagle got to work fighting him, and the two eagles flew out of sight. The bugs gathered all the reptiles to come to the other side and broke their curse discovering their elemental powers. They saw the two eagles dive into a pool of water and were relieved after they came out and started acting like brothers. When they got to the other side they were praised like heroes, The eagles took their rightful place as the rulers and made the bugs who helped him their personal ambassadors and lived happily ever after, once again united.
