Rejoice in Rebirth

The fine morning sun rays hit the person lying on the bed. Her long eyelashes fluttered like the wings of a butterfly struggling to open her eyes with all the strength present in her. In midst of her struggle, she heard a concerned and anxious voice "Little girl you are awake".

"Little girl?" shouldn't she be addressed as "miss or young lady". Who will call a woman with the age of 27 years as little girl. After fully opening her eyes she saw a middle-aged woman with red eyes and tear stained face . The middle-aged woman's face beamed with joy on seeing her awake and hugged her screaming happily " By God's grace Chhavi you are fine" . Being called by her name Chhavi was some what confused thinking "this? how can she know me and call my name but I don't even know her?" carefully watching her surroundings a small room with the pungent smell of ayurvedic medicine, the walls are left unpainted, the doors are thick and made of teak, there was slight smoke coming from the ancient wooden stick torch fixed on the wall and there was a feather fan beside her bed.

Stunned and confused for a while she looked down and saw that she was wearing a dress of ancient model. "where is she? and who are these people ?". Her confused look scared the middle aged woman she said "Chhavi what happened to you tell mom are you uncomfortable anywhere ?" then she turned to the middle aged man beside her and said "Vaidhya please take a look at my daughter " . "Daughter" "mom" after being an orphan for more than 15 years after her parents death in a car accident Chhavi felt unspeakable emotions hearing these words which were left distant for a long time. Then she saw a middle aged man dressed in ancient men's clothing who was addressed as vaidhya by her "mother" so he is the doctor and the one who called her "Little girl". "Wait why did he call her little girl?"

Turning her head and she saw that there was a little girl aged 12 years with delicate facial features and innocence of a child in the mirror. After taking a closer and touching her cheeks Chhavi realized that the person in the mirror is her at the age of 12 years. But why did she become a 12-year girl instead of being a 27-year-old woman. After taking a look at her surroundings she saw through the windows that there were many shops and vendors were selling their goods but what caught her attention was that the money they are exchanging were copper coins. "Copper coins" . Chhavi could not understand what is happening. Then she heard the doctor telling "since she has fallen ill from the fever and was in an unconscious state for 4 days it is common to be confused " .Hearing these words Chhavi felt that something was wrong "Unconscious? Fever?"

Didn't she get hit by a car and admitted to the hospital? How can she suffer from a fever. While thinking about it she felt her vision getting blurred and fainted. For the next few days she drank the medication given by the doctor and her mom took good care of her . After taking care of herself for so many years she forgot which was the last time when someone took care of her this earnestly and carefully with love.

One day suddenly she heard a voice calling her when she turned towards that direction she saw a middle aged man who was travel-worn at the door. His face had the similar features of her face, her mom came from behind the man and told her "see your dad came". Chhavi was once again shocked and felt happy. The couple came to her bedside and the man rubbed her head gently looking lovingly at her and asking " How was your health? Did mom take good care of you ? or else tell dad?". Watching this couple reminded her of her parents who also took good care of her. Both of them were waiting for her reply with anxiousness in their eyes. Seeing them Chhavi nodded her head and said that she was fine. They asked her to rest and went out of the room. After a period of time, Chhavi figured out that she has been transmigrated into this ancient era as this couple's daughter. The couple are farmers who live a comfortable life earning through their hard work. After living with them she started addressing them with the long lost words in her life "mom" and "dad". After her recovery every day her parents went to the field which was near to their house and left her at home.

For fear that she might get ill her mother even did all the house chores. Chhavi got bored after some time and went out to stroll. Unlike the modern era with skyscrapers and bustling with motor vehicles the roods were bustling with sounds of people chattering sitting in groups and children playing under the trees. This is the way how people entertain themselves in the world without the internet and electricity. These past few days even though the earnings of her family are not equal to the thousands of bucks she earned through her job every month but they are enough to live a life without hunger. The most important thing is that her parents treat her very well. She never felt this happiness in the past 15 years even if she earned thousands of bucks a month and living comfortably. Through this accident and the transmigration, she felt that God had given her a chance to live again with parent's love and complete happiness. If this the boon which she got from the rebirth then she will definitely rejoice in it.
