Prepare For Failure

Prepare For Failure

One of the basic facts about life is that it is unpredictable and our life can change for the worse any moment.

Those who accept and understand this fact live and handle problems and failures effectively while those who don’t, end up ruining there and the lives those around them, no matter how successful they were.

Just read an article about a young Indian guy in the US who committed suicide after shooting his wife and children.

He passed from a premier engineering college in India and then went on to do his MBA from a University in the US.

He had a high paying job, a beautiful wife, a big house and luxury cars. So, what went wrong?

California Institute of Clinical Psychology Studied his case and found “what went wrong?”

They interviewed his friends and family and found that he had lost his job due to America’s economic crisis and was jobless for a long time.

He even reduced his previous salary amount but didn’t get any job.

He defaulted on his house instalments, and he and his family lost the home.

After struggling for a few months with low money he and his wife together decided to commit suicide.

I don’t mean to be disrespectful or anything but apparently, the man was programmed only for success, and he was not trained to handle failures. I guess none of us is? Do we now?

We are all spoon fed about success mantras right from the day we are born; nobody teaches us how to handle failures and mistakes.

In fact, our brains have always been filled with pressure inducing statements like: “failure is not an option” etc.

Even most of the coaches and speakers these days talk only about how to be successful and rich. However, nobody would tell you what to do when things go south.

My deepest condolences to his parents for the loss they have suffered.

Unless and until we prepare our children, students and anyone we coach or train to cope with failure, everything good that we have taught them is meaningless.
