My Lockdown Experiences

It was 23rd March 2020, when our honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared lockdown all over India due to Covid 19. All schools were closed. This news came to me like a bolt from the blue. However, backbenchers of the school became too happy hearing the news.

When I came to know that Storymirror is presenting a story writing competition where students can share their

experiences of lockdown, I immediately started writing for it. So, let me share my experiences with you.

During the lockdown, my every morning started with watching the T.V. where I saw the currently active cases, deaths of Covid, and I became very sad. Before lockdown, I used to play cricket, football with my friends in the afternoon. But Corona put a stop sign in playing against the children. For this,I could not go to school which is very painful to me.

I could not go to my school which is like flying without wings. Confined within 4 walls, thousands of questions were always cumulating in my mind. Like-"Why does Covid appear? When it will be gone? What is the treatment and vaccine for it?" etc etc.

I became bored in online classes. All-time class on smartphone! It creates a bad effect on my mind and eyesight day by day. And it is quite different to learn physically and digitally. Tension and depression were troubling my mind each and every moment.

Now I am sharing a funny experience with you. One day I was reading a storybook gifted by my grandpa. Suddenly, I started sneezing 1..2..3...12 times!! We all know, that Sneezing is a symptom of Covid. I thought I was corona affected. I was going to cry. At this time, I again sneezed and saw there was a small fly lying on my book. Then, I understood the real cause and my cry turned into laughter.

I played many indoor games like ludo, chess with my parents and spent too much time with them. My parents shared their childhood funny experiences with me. During the lockdown, my "PARENTS" became my "PARTNERS".

I read many books, novels and knew many things about the unknown & beautiful world. I think I was a frog of a narrow well before reading those books.

I contributed RS/- 5,000 from my scholarship to Bharat Sevashram, a charitable organization that works for poor people and comes forward to help the poor. This is the best lockdown moment I can call up.

But unfortunately, the 2nd wave of covid has come again in India and knocking at our door For this, many states including my state West Bengal has started lockdown again. Another life-threatening disease-Black Fungus is spreading throughout India and Government declared it an epidemic. So, we have to be careful so that we can defeat both diseases and get back to our previous daily routine.
