Market Rush

Market Rush

“OMG, it was so hard to go out today. I was just waiting for the moment to step inside the house,” I screamed.

“What happened?” asked my mother.

“Don’t ask. People are crazy in the market. I felt like corona never existed and there is no fear in people’s minds,” I was furious.

“Calm down. Have some water first,” she handed me a glass of mild cold water.

“I got you but that's what happened after the first lockdown was lifted. Nobody has learnt a lesson,” she replied calmly.

“But that makes everyone suffer,” I was in no mood to calm down.

I continued, “I felt as if some emergency would get declared soon and people were rushing to stock things at their homes. At one moment, I felt as if some prisoners had been released from the jail.“

She laughed.

“I understand how you are feeling,” she sympathized.

“And traffic, don’t ask. When we used to go out for essential services in lockdown, it was so peaceful and easy to return back home on time. And now, traffic along with high temperatures just adds to misery. I was sweating like anything. The thought of staying at home in cool pyjamas with a nice cool drink was like a dream.”

“Hehe. Don't worry, child. You are living your dream now,’ she exclaimed.

“Seriously mom, this is indeed a blessing to return home safe,” I appreciated this privilege.

We both felt thankful and smiled at each other.
