Lockdown Hunger

Lockdown Hunger

Lot of dogs were barking in the street. After going out, I found that the food that I had put outside for one of the dog had invited many and a big quarrel was happening among them to prove their claim.

Somehow I managed to disperse them out from the street but this brought some thoughts in my mind. Earlier, When we used to offer some food to dogs, they would smell and leave without eating. The entire food used to get waste. We got annoyed at one point of time and stopped the practice. After sometime, we found those dogs standing outside corner meat-shops in hope of some left-over. Being vegetarian, we could not fulfill their need of non-veg food and hence it was obvious for them to prefer non-veg over milk-roti offered by us.

In the lockdown, those dogs started sitting outside in front of gates again in hope of food. I realized that lockdown has brought hunger not only in human beings but in animals as well. Lockdown closed those shops and in-turn the food source of these animals.

This was one of the silent effect happened on them and hence it becomes our responsibility, as a human being, to take care of them as much we can.
