A group of boys and girls were playing in the big open ground in the middle of their small town.

The energetic group was boisterous, loudly laughing and talking having fun pulling the leg of children younger to them. They spotted a beautiful white cow standing peacefully near a big tree to a side and chewing the cud. The interplay of light coming through the canopy made an unusual visual and from distance it appeared as though a UFO was there on the cow. The big boys had gala time making up a story to the younger ones. They told that a UFO had come from the space and dropped this special cow with magical powers here. Two of the younger boys, twins, Ramu and Sonu took it to their heart and stealthily slipped out of the group and rushed home, planning to bring their Grandpa before anyone came and took the cow away.

Grandpa Gopalji was sitting outside the house relaxing in an easy chair and spotted the two boys, noticing that they were unusually excited. The boys rushed onto Grandpa’s lap and narrated the whole story to him. Grandpa laughed loudly and then looking at the disappointment in the faces of the boys, thought over for some time. With a twinkle in his eyes he said, ”Look boys, I don’t know if there are UFOs in the space and if they come to earth. But a divine cow with unlimited powers to bestow anything upon its devotees is described in our Mythology and I can tell you about it. “ he continued. The celestial cow called “Kamadhenu” by name belonging to the sage Vasishtha, was produced by the gods at the churning of the cosmic ocean. All the gods are believed to reside in the body of Kamadhenu — the divine cow. Her four legs are the scriptural Vedas; her horns are the triune gods Brahma (tip), Vishnu (middle) and Shiva (base); her eyes are the sun and moon gods, her shoulders the fire-god Agni and the wind-god Vayu and her legs the Himalayas. It is a sacred cow and worshipped by all Hindus.”

“ I don’t know if Kamadhenu exists or if the cow you had seen today was divine cow dropped by UFO. But I can certainly say that every cow represents Kamadhenu and deserves to be worshipped and protected. A cow gives milk from which you can produce many more products. Even the cow’s dung is useful in many ways.” He concluded. The boys were very happy and content with their Grandpa’s words.
