A usual day started like no other. I got up, did my chores, studied ( even though I did want to) and then finally sat on the sofa doing nothing. My mother came to me and sat down (which was unusual), my mother never sat down near usually at this time as she had too much work to do. I didn't question her though. She started, "I and your dad have thought a lot and have decided to lay down the golden rule that You should NEVER lie."

I agreed as that was the only option. After some time, our neighbour Mrs. Shalu knocked outhouse door, my mother opened the door. She asked," Heyyy..Mrs. Chavan!!! Arrey.. You know right I need to make Chai.. Arrey..but you might know I didn't have time.. I had to this... then that...Any..ways do you have any Chini..?"

My mother, frustrated with the long useless story lied, " No...if I had I would likely give it to you". Immediately after I heard my mother, I remembered the rules and quickly answered, "Oh, mother I think you forgot. Yes, Mrs. Shalu we do have Chini'.

My mother looked at me with anger and I knew it would have a very bad effect on me later. After a long time, my father came home and asked me, "What beta? Studying or not?" I remembered the rules immediately and answered honestly," No, father".

Listening to this my father shouted at me but I didn't understand whether it was for being honest or for not studying.

Why do only few follow rules when it is made for all? Questions keep arising but answers are that matter.
